Hydroponics light reflector

Light reflector importance in your hydroponics grow.

It is very important to use a light reflector in your hydroponics garden if you would like to get the most out of your grow lamp. A light bulb will admit light in 360°. If you do not have a reflector above your bulb these light rays will be wasted because light will be beaming out in all directions around for your plants and not on your plants. What you really need is a way of focusing the light beams at 360° radius back onto your plants. That’s exactly what the light reflector does and why it’s important to have one. A light reflector will take all the light from the bulb and once installed around the top of the light reflector will bounce light down to your garden. This is called out of bounce light. This can make your lights much more effective because now a lot less of those light rays are to be wasted by going in directions not needed. You never want to run the lights without out a good reflector.

When looking for a hydroponics grow lights reflector take a look at name brands like a light Sunlight Supply and Hydrofarm. They are both known to make high-quality reflectors ranging through entry level all the way up to grow commercial gardening. If you can afford it definitely get an air cooled reflector that will keep your lights a lot cooler than non-air cooled reflectors like Batwings. Keeping these big lights cool is definitely huge advantage when it comes to hydroponics. But whatever you do definitely by a reflector being a non-air cooled reflector or an air cooled reflector as long as you have bounce light on their you will have a very effective grow using your HID lighting system.

There is a really great tutorial on the Homegrown Hydroponics website about selecting the proper light wattage for the room you are growing in. If you’re considering growing with hydroponics for the first time and you are unsure what the proper wattage bulb will be then check out the video on the Homegrown Hydroponics website in their video section. That should clear up a lot so you can make sure that you have the right light to get the most yield and not overpower your plants too much light.

Let There Be Light – Hydroponics

It is no secret that America’s medical marijuana developments have necessitated a new trend for patients to grow their own medicine at home. Having the proper hydroponic setup can make all the difference when going forward with a plan to grow and the proper knowledge for developing this plan is absolutely critical. After selecting your apparatus you should take careful preparation with regard to lighting. Bear in mind that lighting can often substantially increase your electric bill depending on the wattage so be sure to plan accordingly.

One of the most important aspects of lighting is knowing your plant’s light cycle with regard to what you are trying to achieve yield wise vs. what is actually possible. Making sure to turn off your lighting system for the proper number of hours each day and doing so at regular intervals is essential to your plant’s health.

You must be consistent in when you turn lights on and off since the goal here is to replicate a real-world environment. Make a note of when you turn lights on and off and establish a schedule to ensure that you do not lost the grow cycle “rhythm” necessary to emulate real world grow conditions.

Something else to consider when setting up a hydroponic grow setup is what type of lighting to use. For many years now indoor growth enthusiasts and botanists alike have used fluorescent bulbs in place of incandescent ones in order to give their plants the nourishing light they need. Fluorescent light bulbs emit about three times the light of a traditional incandescent bulb and also have the added bonus of being able to give light to a larger area. Unfortunately due to this “spread out” quality fluorescent bulbs have to be closer to plants in order to deliver the best results.

Fluorescent light bulbs should be used early in the growing process especially since they do not add a tremendous amount of heat to the grow room and will not hinder your plant’s growth cycle. Traditional fluorescent lights are especially useful over those sold as “grow lamps” because they also consumer much less power. Saving yourself a hundred dollars a month can really be a good thing, especially since typically using a traditional fluorescent light can be far cheaper than purchasing a specialized “grow lamp”. Bearing these things in mind will help you tremendously as you move forward with planning your grow room.

Hydroponic is a great system. A couple other types of lamps to consider are high intensity discharge lamps or high-pressure sodium lamps. Either of these choices is ideal for promoting expedited growth once your plant is at its “mid-life”. While growing your own medicine at home can save you a tremendous amount of money the proper amount of research must be conducted beforehand, otherwise you face the possibility of losing your entire investment. Making sure that you understand what you are doing and have a methodical plan with which to implement it is absolutely essential to raising a good crop.

How To Grow The Best Medical Marijuana

Fill a large container with water ( three to five gallons ) let it sit uncovered for two days outside. This allows chlorine and other potentially harmful chemicals to escape. Now add a good liquid fertilizer. Take 5 to 10 quality seeds and place them in a cup of this water. Notice that the seeds are floating. Allow the seeds to absorb water. Let them soak for 2 days in a warm dark place. Check seeds if any are still floating “toss’em” they are no good. Take the good seeds and place on a wet paper towel.

Get some paper cups and poke holes in the bottom for drainage. Fill them with a high quality plant soil of your choice, add water and let sit. Make sure the water has completely soaked the soil. Place a single sprouted seed point end down in each cup. Label cup if your using different types of seeds Place cups in a warm moist place (hot water closet) for 3 to 4 days. Now setup your grow lights, they should hang approximately 10 inches above the cups for now. Lights should be on for 20 hours off for 4 hours, don’t change the cycle yet this will stress the plant. The seeds should start sprouting in about 4 to 5 days water them every three days or so don’t let them dry out. Let grow for 3 weeks at that lighting cycle. After that cycle, cut the lighting back to 16 hours on 8 hours off. Now get more aggressive on cutting back the lighting 12 on 12 off for two weeks.

Now your plants should start showing there sex , females will have little white hairs, the males will have little green balls. “Throw the male plants away” ( unless you want to produce seeds ) When the buds start weighing the limbs down cut the lighting back even more to 10 hours on 14 hours off this will trick the plant into thinking it needs to put all its growth into the seeds, but it has no seeds. Doing this will make the THC content very high.

When all the hairs start to turn “dark red” your ready to harvest, pull the plants out shake off dirt from roots and hang upside down in a warm dry place. Most lighting can be found on the internet the best for indoor growing lamp use a metal halide lamp.

Make a simple hydroponics

Hydroponics was found at the first time by Aztec nation in the middle of 15th century ago. Based on my study about hydroponics, there are three kinds of hydroponics. They are: Water culture, Aggregate culture and Nutrient Film Technique. (..”Please add the other techniques if you know”…)

“…But now, I want to explain the simplest one. You can give it as …… (your name) hydroponics method (Just kidding)…”

OK, back to topic. Why hydroponics? Actually, it not requires a lot of farmland. Besides that, additions of liquid nutrients don’t need to be done every day and equipment was very simple and able to use secondhand goods.

Basic of hydroponics is simple. It is how plants can get their nutrition. That’s why the main keyword of hydroponics gardening is growth medium.

Equipment needed in simple hydroponics are:

Secondhand mineral water cup.
Secondhand tea plastic glass or juice and its lid.
Growth medium.
Liquid nutrition.

After all the equipment ready, hydroponic gardening can begin. Let’s do it step by step.

Fill mineral water cup with growth medium and then moisten it slowly.
Fill a plastic cup with nutrient liquid as much as half first. Next, fit that plastic cup lid.
Enter mineral water cup in that plastic cup, which its position will hang on the glass lid.
Immerse or grow plants in the growth medium. Check nutritional liquid’s height if liquid nutrition touches root crops. If not touched the roots of plants yet, liquid nutrients can be added step by step.
Hydroponics are completed. Put it at the sufficient sunlight, but sheltered from the wind and rain-place.(More)

Hydroponic Systems and Basic Elements

Article by Hydroponics Nutrients

Hydroponics is essentially growing plants in water without using soil as a growing medium. Hydroponics gardening, with the help of superior-quality hydroponics system, can conserve the ever depleting natural resources like land and water. The water used in hydroponic system can be recycled to some extent. Therefore, hydroponics system is an eco-friendly way of gardening.

Setting up your personal hydroponic system at home is very simple. Just like any other task, you have to do some planning before you set up your personal hydroponics system. You have to understand the requirement of your hydroponic plants and accordingly gather equipments to make a good hydroponics system.

Broadly, hydroponic systems can be classified as active or passive. In active hydroponics system, nutrient solution spreads over the roots of your plants. This type of hydroponic system is useful for the large-sized root zone medium, like perlite and vermiculite. Whereas, in passive hydroponics system plant roots are allowed to spread into the nutrient solution; in this case, your plants might need a support system or an anchorage as they develop.

The primary elements of most hydroponics system are: water, light, temperature, oxygen and nutrients. The light provided could be either natural or artificial, depending on the type of gardening; if you are growing plants indoors you’ll require artificial lights as part of your hydroponics system and if you are growing in a greenhouse you can use a combination of natural and artificial light.

Ensure that the hydroponics system you use provides air circulation efficiently; your plants should not experience lack of air supply in the grow room. You can comfortably rely on natural air circulation, if you are cultivating your hydroponic crops outdoors. Also, if the water circulation is carried out in a closed grow room, you can install motors to artificially supply water to guarantee that oxygen reaches your plant roots.

In places where the climate is moderate, adjusting temperature is not a great deal. But if you are growing your plants in a grow room in extreme weather conditions then temperature adjustments become necessary. A good hydroponic system ensures adequate growing conditions with suitable temperature for your plants to help them grow faster and bigger.

A hydroponic system also helps provide essential nutrients to your plants in adequate ratio. These nutrients if not provided on time can destroy your plants or slow their growth because of deficiency. The nutrient solution contains all essential vitamins and minerals your plants need to look good and strong. If your hydroponics system readily provides these basic elements then your hydroponics system is all set to roll out!

Hydroponics Supplies

There are several hydroponics supplies you will need to get started with for successful hydroponics gardening. The basic hydroponics supplies are water and air pumps, flood and drain fittings, timers, and plastic tubing. The type of hydroponics supplies growers need change depending on the system they choose. Many use the basic hydroponics supplies like a pump an aerator, grow medium, resevoir, and netted pots or trays.

When it comes to hydroponics supplies, a reservoir is an essential piece of equipment; it is a large tank that holds the water and nutrient solution. A pump is added to the reservoir to supply the solution to the hydroponic plants root system. An aerator is also part of hydroponics equipment that keeps the solution oxygenated, which helps the plants to thrive. The net or tray holds the crowns of hydroponic plants out of the solution at a perfect height so that the roots can reach the solution and take up water and nutrients they need.

Hydroponic plants, like all plants, need sufficient light to grow. The most important piece of hydroponics supplies is lighting. The specific type and number of lights the grower will need depends on the type of hydroponic plants they wish to grow and the stage of the growth cycle. You should keep in mind that to grow seedlings you will need light in the blue color spectrum in order to grow the adolescent hydroponic plants and red color spectrum for matured hydroponic plants to flower and fruit efficiently. You may need other hydroponics supplies such as light reflectors to increase the area of light coverage; digital ballasts to control electrical flow; and fans used to cool off hot-running lights.

The type of growing medium is also one of the important hydroponics supplies. This takes the place of soil, and could include coconut coir or other natural medium. With the help of appropriate cloner as part of your hydroponics supplies you can cultivate any plant you wish to grow. There are many hydroponic suppliers in the market who offer these hydroponics gardening supplies and help you select proper hydroponics equipment for your hydroponics garden!
